Technically we are a videography and post-production company. What we really are is; Storytellers. For most of our customers, exactly HOW we do our work, is less important than HOW IT HELPS them purchase the finest story from their photos and memorabilia.

For you technocrats; We use AVID editing with video raids, Boris Red, and commercial grade Sony, Canon, and Panasonic cameras and lenses. We use tripods with fluid heads to make sure our video images are never jerky. We use complex compositing, 2D & 3D software effects and multiple simultaneous real-time streams to create and view richly layered effects, real-time waveform and vectorscope for more accurate assessment of color correction and matching, as well as audio sweetening audio mix, punch-in, EQ, and automatic gain setting. Our digital editors love this stuff and are always wanting and buying more.

Story Mountain Productions® invests in ongoing classes and seminars for our editors, where they find out about new technology and the latest techniques. It is all fairly technical. The great thing is that the people in the edit room, make the storytelling part, easy.

That part is magic. That part involves the Storyteller’s art.

The Evolution of a Story

It starts with listening. It involves narrative flow and how the images we can use, create a dynamic feeling of emotion in your story. Some of our projects are photo montages which Webster describes as:

montage - (1) In the cinema, the art of conveying an idea and/or mood by the rapid juxtaposition of different images and camera angles. (2) In art, the kind of work made from pictures or parts of pictures already produced and now forming a new composition.

Other projects incorporate old photos and fresh filming. Each project is different, each has it’s own integrity.
